Who isn't fascinated by the gracious and beautiful Princess Di? Everything about her held an air of intrigue, from her complicated marriage to Prince Charles to her beautiful fashions and jewels. Prince Charles proposed to Diana in February of 1981 and they were married several months later. The marriage ceremony was shown around the words and watched by hundreds of millions of people. Soon after, their sons Harry and William were born. Unfortunately, there was trouble in paradise and rumors of extramarital affairs plagued the marriage. In particular, much scrutiny surrounded Prince Charles's friendship with Camilla Parker Bowles. Princess Diana's engagement ring was a magnificent 18-carat blue sapphire surrounded by diamonds. The princess had many fabulous pieces of jewelry and her jewelry collection was estimated to be worth over 30 million dollars. Also, her exquisite sapphire and pearl choker that she wore on her wedding day drew much attention. The couple separated in 1992. Diana was understandably upset when Charles revealed in a television interview after their separation that he never loved Diana. Ouch! Two years later, the couple were divorced. In 1997, Diana fell in love with Emad "Dodi" Fayed the son of a wealthy businessman. Their relationship was cut short by a fatal car accident that took both of their lives. People over the world mourned this great loss.
